All athletes do not win gold, nor do all musicians become concert pianists. Yet the contribution of the millions of non-gold winners and non-concert pianists to the worlds of sport and music are vastly more important in the lives of most of us than the contribution of the elite performers, for we may be those people ourselves. The elite in anysphere inspire us; they show us what is possible.
